Arq 5 Backup Software released

Arq 5 is a new version of the popular backup software for Macintosh and Windows systems that enables you to backup data locally or online using various methods.

The program is not free but available for a one-time fee of $49.99. You can add an extra $30 for that if you want free lifetime major version upgrades included.

While that is all that is needed if you want to use the software to back up data locally, you need to add costs if you plan to use remote services such as AWS, Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, or Google Cloud Storage.

AVG Offline Installers

Software is pushed by AVG on its website in form of online installers which require an Internet connection during installation.

The method has some advantages, namely that the most recent version of the program is installed whenever the installer is executed, and that the initial download is only a couple of Megabytes in size.

While that is useful sometimes, you may sometimes need an installer that does not require an Internet connection. Those are called offline installers or full installers.
