Move files from different folders into one with Folder Merge for Windows
Folder Merger is a free portable application for the Windows operating system that you can use to merge files that reside in different folders into a single destination folder
Merging simple folders on Windows is not that much of a problem. Simply select all files of one folder and copy the contents to the other folder. Finish up by deleting the first folder.
It gets complicated and time consuming if you need to merge many folders into one, or want to move files from subfolders into the root folder.
WhenLast for Android keeps track of repeating tasks
Keeping track of certain tasks can sometimes be difficult. While it is usually no problem if you complete tasks regularly, say once a week, it gets difficult if you only do so occasionally.
Examples are changing oil on your car, dusting your PC, cleaning the fridge, medical appointments or changing smoke alarm batteries.
While some of you may be able to track those without any helpers, others may have a hard time remembering when they completed a task the last time.
Dimmdrive: Steam optimized RAM Drive launches
Dimmdrive is a new application available on the gaming platform Steam. It is a RAM drive that has been created specifically for Steam games.
Games benefit a lot from better hardware. Solid State Drives are better than platter-based drives. More RAM is better than less RAM. A faster cpu and video card produce higher fps on the screen, and a fast Internet connection ensures that you can connect to game servers faster.
How to enable experimental features in Internet Explorer
Mary Jo Foley mentioned recently that Microsoft could ship the company's upcoming operating system Windows 10 with two browsers instead of just one.
These two browsers, different from the two versions of Internet Explorer that Windows 8.x users have access to currently, run independent from each other.
Commodore Amiga Emulator WinUAE 3.0.0 available
Ah, the Commodore Amiga. One of the greatest home computer systems that was home to some of the best games ever created.
While it is still possible to buy an Amiga on marketplaces like eBay, you may not have enough space at home to do just that.
That's were emulation comes in. While you can argue that emulation cannot mimic the computer 100%, it is better than not using it at all in my opinion.
Plus, it adds several options such as fast load or the emulation of hard drives or floppy drives that make things more comfortable.
How to restore the last session in Google Chrome
You can configure the Google Chrome web browser to open the last session, meaning all tabs and windows open the last time you used it, or to open a blank page or set of pages each time you open it.
If you have configured Chrome to start fresh and not restore sessions, then you won't be able to continue where you left off.
While that may be your intention, you may find it useful at times to restore the previous sessions. Problem is, there is no option to do just that.
Leanify is a cross-platform console-based file size optimizer
Leanify is a lightweight cross-platform application that you can run to optimize the size of certain file types without affecting quality or contents.
File size is not that much of an issue anymore in times where Terabyte hard drives are the norm and not the exception.
It is advisable at times however. If you are running low on disk space, for instance because of quotas in a company network, want to make available files on the Internet or send them to others, then file size may become an issue.
TV streaming website WiZiWiG shuts down: alternatives
The shutdown of the popular MyP2P.eu website, a popular destination for live and free sports streaming on the Internet, resulted in the creation of WiZiWiG which offered similar services.
It was not the only site that offered lists of events and links to stream those events but became a popular destination quickly.
PC Decrapifier 3.0 is a rewrite of the trialware and crap remover for Windows
If you have ever bought a PC running Windows, you may have had to deal with quite a few programs and other annoyances installed by the manufacturer of the device.
It is common that factory bought PCs ship with program trial versions installed that will run only for 30 or so days before they need to be purchased.
Other annoyances may include desktop shortcuts to places like eBay on the Internet, or a bunch of applications by the manufacturer such as customer satisfactory surveys and such.
Asynchronous Plugin Initialization improves plugin startup in Firefox
When you check out telemetry data that Mozilla collects about hangs in its Firefox web browser, you will notice that plugin-related issues are overrepresented there.
Plugins in this context refers exclusively to NPAPI plugins that the Firefox web browser supports such as Adobe Flash, Silverlight or Unity.
Whenever a Firefox user visits a web page that runs code that requires plugins, they need to be initialized.
PortExpert monitors TCP and UDP communications on Windows
One of the things that I do regularly is to check open connections on a PC I'm working with to make sure that there are no leaks or ports open that I don't require.
While it is possible to use command line tools like ipconfig for some of this, I prefer to use programs like CurrPorts instead as they make life a lot easier by formatting the output and adding features to the list that you can make use of to investigate potential issues further.
VeraCrypt update brings TrueCrypt volume support
VeraCrypt is one of the encryption programs that came to popularity after the end of the popular encryption software TrueCrypt.
It features the traditional TrueCrypt interface and functionality, and is based on the software's code.
Core changes were made to security however.
Advanced Network Configurator review
Advanced Network Configurator addresses the decade old problem of configuring Windows PCs to connect to computer networks using a single network adapter.
The main issue that you will encounter is that it is time-consuming to modify network related values for the adapter whenever you change networks.
Say, you use a laptop at home and at work, and both require you to modify network settings.
The program adds profiles to network adapters which you can switch between with a single-click in the interface.
How to export and edit Google Contacts
Google maintains a list of your contacts automatically if you use company products such as Gmail, Google Plus and others.
This list grows over time and situations may arise where you may want to export the list of contacts, for instance for safekeeping or to import it in another program, application or web service.
This guide walks you through the steps of exporting all or select Google contacts.
How to access Google Inbox in Firefox
I'm not a fan of Google Inbox, the company's new take on email on the Web. It takes the automatic filtering of emails into groups that Google introduced on Gmail some time ago and takes it to the next level.
You get additional categories and have options to create your own bundles if you like. Both the web interface and mobile apps are optimized for large displays as they use lots of white space and buttons that can be accessed easily.
