What's New
Add Google Image pictures to messages or email on Android effortlessly
You can add pictures to Android messages or emails easily on devices by selecting that option. Usually though, you are limited to images that are either on the local device already or hosted on a connected file synchronization account.
If you want to add images that you found on the Web, you either have to download them or attach their link instead which may take quite some time as you need to open a web browser, open an image search site or a site images are hosted on, download the image or copy the link, and attach it to the message.
How to hide annoying comments on YouTube automatically
I stay away from user comments on YouTube as they provide little to no value most of the time. In fact, you could say that they are annoying or even worse than that.
Some YouTube users like comments on the other hand and even those users have to cope with a massive amount of useless comments that serve no purpose but to troll on the site.
If you read comments on YouTube occasionally or regularly, you may want to hide or remove comments on the site that are of no value.
Opera introduces audio indicator in Opera 28
The most recent Developer edition of the Opera browser, version 28.0.1745 ships with a new feature that highlights tabs in the browser if audio is playing on websites loaded in those tabs.
There are not many features that I wish Firefox would have that Chrome has already. One that is high up on that list is Chrome's ability to not only indicate whether audio is playing in a tab but also its means to mute it without having to switch to that tab first to use on-page controls.
Turn files into pdf documents automatically with HotFolder
So-called pdf printers can be quite useful. These programs add a virtual printer to the operating system that you can send files to so that they are converted to pdf in the process.
While there are other means to achieve the same, most of them are time consuming and not as easy to work with.
One of the programs that you can use for that is PDF Creator. The free version is quite powerful as it supports different profiles and a variety of settings to customize the conversion process.
Fix Add-ons not working in Firefox 35
Firefox 35 has been pushed to the Stable channel recently by Mozilla and while the majority of users did not notice any incompatibilities or issues, some users noticed that one or multiple of installed browser add-ons stopped working suddenly.
Desktop Google Drive update brings bandwidth limiter and sync status
If you are using Google's file synchronization and online hosting service Google Drive on the desktop, on PC or Mac, you may have installed the latest update for the service already that introduces a bandwidth limiter and sync status information.
If that did not happen yet, you can download the installer again from the official website to update the software this way to the latest version.
Changes become apparent once files are synced on the device the latest version of Google Drive is installed on.
Disallow scripts temporarily on web pages in Firefox
The majority of websites that you visit load one or multiple scripts. Scripts, usually based on JavaScript code, serve a variety of purposes that include powering site functionality, displaying advertisement or tracking users.
There are scripts that are outright annoying or even malicious. A site that is loading new popups whenever you close the old one, another that auto-refreshes in short intervals, and a third that redirects you automatically to another version or site.
How Verizon Wireless defeats your privacy and what you can do about it
Verizon Wireless is a large wireless telecommunications provider owned by Verizon Communications. It came to light last year that Verizon Wireless injects unique identifiers into web requests that company customers make on their devices.
The header is assigned to customer data plans and not devices that are being used which means that the tracking information will be the same regardless of device used to connect to Internet web pages.
Outlook.com gets Save to OneDrive feature
Microsoft is rolling out a new feature for its Outlook.com messaging service that adds options to it to save attachments to the company's OneDrive file synchronization and cloud storage service.
Online storage space can be quite useful at times. When you need to send someone files that exceed a certain size for example or want access to files from any device even third-party ones.
Data Compression Proxy update for Chrome introduces whitelist and adblocker
If you are using Google Chrome on Android, you may know that you can enable a data compression proxy to save bandwidth while you are browsing the Internet using the app.
This can be quite useful as it may speed up the loading times of sites you visit thanks to compression, and it may also reduce your monthly bandwidth bill as less data is transferred when the proxy is used.
This proxy is not supported officially on the desktop. While there is certainly less of a need on desktop systems to compress web pages, there are situations where this may speed up browsing as well.
Book Review: The Beginner’s Guide to Android Game Development
The Beginner's Guide to Android Game Development by James Cho is a complete Android game development course for beginners who have little or no programming experience.
How to remove Firefox Marketplace Apps on the desktop
Yesterday's Firefox update improved the visibility of the Firefox Marketplace on desktop systems by adding a link to it in the browser's Tools menu.
The apps offered on the marketplace can be installed in mobile versions of Firefox and on desktop systems. The system works similar to how Google handles apps for its ecosystem of browsers and devices but there are differences that you will notice once you install an app on the desktop.
Batch photo editor sPhoto puts you in full control
Batch photo editing comes into play when you need to process more than a couple of images at a time. If you need to process a folder with hundreds or even thousands of images, you may not want to perform the same operation, say resize, on each image individually as you spend quite some time on that boring task.
While you can use batch processing programs for that, many don't give you full control over the process. While you may be able to set a new desired size for all images, there may be no option to control whether the selected size or dimensions will look good on all images.
