Firefox 36 Find out what is new

Firefox 36 will be released to the public on February 24th, 2015 by Mozilla.

All Firefox channels are moved up a version on the release day which means that Firefox Stable installations are moved to version 36, Beta versions to 37, Developer versions to 38 and Nightly installations to 39.

Firefox Extended Support Release builds are also updated to version 31.5 on the day.

The easiest way to find out which version (and channel) of the browser you are running is to type about:support in the browser's address bar.

Google improves unwanted software protection in Chrome and Search

Potentially unwanted software is a big issue in today's computing. It is largely a problem on Windows systems and usually refers to the bundling of unwanted programs with software that you have downloaded from the Internet.

The recent Lenovo scandal has shown that potentially unwanted software may also be added to systems by manufacturers of said devices.

Latest Vivaldi Build adds 64-bit Windows support

Maybe it is just my impression but it seems as if busy bees are working on Vivaldi's browser as new versions of it get released in an astonishing speed considering that the team is relatively small when compared to other browsers.

The most recent build of Vivaldi's Tech Preview brings support for 64-bit Windows builds which you can download from the official company blog. The team notes that the builds are experimental and that some plugins may not work if you install and use that build.

Apple tops operating system, Microsoft application vulnerability chart

If you had to guess the operating system with the highest number of reported vulnerabilities, which would you pick? I guess it is fairly certain that the majority would pick Windows 7 or Windows in general but that is not the case, at least not when you grab data from the 2014 NVD database.

Privdog is Superfish all over again

Privdog is a privacy protection software that is available as a standalone product for the Google Chrome Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox web browser and bundled with select Comodo products including Comodo Dragon and Internet Security.

According to Comodo's website it ships with the company's Internet browser and Internet Security products.

Leawo’s Blu-Ray media player is free now

I don't know anyone who has a computer with a Blu-Ray drive. Most of my friends and the contacts that I asked have a PC with a DVD writer or no optical drive at all but none one with a Blu-Ray drive.

I'm not sure why that is but the most likely explanation is that the format has not really replaced DVD yet on the computer.

You cannot buy games or programs that come on Blu-Ray discs, and while there are plenty of movies and TV shows available on the format, the overwhelming majority seems to play those on a Blu-Ray player connected to the television.

Lazesoft Recovery Suite Free Review

Things can go wrong when you are working on a computer. Programs may crash, you may delete important files accidentally, format an entire drive that contains data that you still need or may not be able to boot into Windows at all because of the last Windows Update that somehow broke everything.

Depending on the issue at hand, you may be able to fix it with built-in tools or a recovery disc, or need third-party tools which often add powerful tools to your arsenal.

The future of technology and entertainment is frightening

Spy agencies and governments that grab, steal, hack, manipulate and collect massive amounts of data, bloatware and adware on PCs, massive invasion of privacy on the Internet, TVs and Internet of Things devices that phone home and transfer what you say or do, free to play apps designed for profit and not for the people who play them, the list goes on and on.
