Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will be available for Mac on July 17th
CD Project Red has announced that Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition is coming to Mac. It's launching on July 17th.
Cyberpunk 2077 was released in 2020, and debuted to mixed reviews, largely concerning the performance of the game, which was so bad it resulted in some versions being refunded and postponed. However, CDPR redeemed itself by patching many technical issues that were plaguing the open world game when it released Cyberpunk 2077 patch 2.0, along with the Phantom Liberty expansion. The game continued to receive patches that improved the performance.
Despite these improvements, Cyberpunk 2077 was never released for macOS. Last year, CDPR announced that the Mac version would be released in early 2025. Well, it's better late than never, as the game is set to be released for Mac on Thursday. CDPR took to social media channels to announce the news. Engadget reports that while the game is compatible with Apple M1 Macs, you will need 16GB of RAM to run the game. Cyberpunk has been optimized for various Mac models, and players will be able to choose a "For this Mac" preset from the graphics settings to play with the one that is suitable for their Mac. CDPR is planning to add support for Metal FX Frame Interpolation and Metal FX Denoising in a future update, but the release version will support AMD FSR for upscaling and frame generation.
Cyberpunk 2077 was released for the Nintendo Switch 2 recently, which, by the way, also uses an ARM architecture like Apple Silicon Macs. On a side note, details about the Cyberpunk 2077 2.3 update will be revealed tomorrow in a live stream.
