Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.3 brings AutoDrive, FSR 3.1, XeSS 2.0, and more

CD Project Red has announced Update 2.3 for Cyberpunk 2077. The update will be available later today.

AutoDrive does exactly what it sounds like, just hop in to your vehicle and choose a destination, and it will automatically drive you through the streets. To use it, you will need your vehicle to be on a road, and hold the H key on PC, or the Left Stick on consoles. That sounds like a fun way to cruise around Night City, and you can switch to the Cinematic Camera. Keep in mind that AutoDrive will be disabled if you enter combat, or if your vehicle is badly damaged. The update brings 4 new vehicles that you can obtain as a reward from new side jobs.

Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.3 adds support for AMD FSR 3.1 Frame Generation, Intel XeSS 2.0 (and Xess Frame Gen), and HDR10+ Gaming for some Intel GPUs (Find My Display + Game Mode required). Users with a compatible AMD GPU can now use AMD FSR 4 option in the game (requires a future driver update).

PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players can now enable VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) in the game. The update also patches a handful of bugs, and adds new options to the Photo Mode.

Update 2.3 will be released of the Nintendo Switch 2 at a later date. The full release notes are available here.

Cyberpunk 2077 for Mac

Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition launches today for Mac on the App Store. Players who already on the game on GOG, Steam or the Epic Games Store can play the Mac version for free.

Cyberpunk 2077 for Mac system requirements

I'm a big fan of the game, but even I have to admit, the Mac requirements for Cyberpunk 2077 are quite a bit surprising.

You will need 16GB of RAM and an M1 Apple Silicon to play the game on 1440 x 900 or 1600 x 900, at 30 frames per second. That's the minimum system requirements with MetalFX DRS, the game calls this the "For this Mac" preset. Mac M3 Pro users who have 18GB (yes that is eighteen), can play the game at Recommended Settings, i.e. 60 fps on 1920 x 1080p (Full HD) or 1800 x 1125 resolution. M2 Ultra and M3 Max users can crank up the resolution to High Fidelity, which is 2294 x 1432, or 2560 x 1440 resolution, but it requires 36GB of RAM. For Very High Fidelity, you will need a Mac with an M3 Ultra or M4 Max chip, 36GB of RAM, to play at 60 fps at 2560 x 1440p or 2294 x 1432.

The Steam, Epic and GOG versions of the game weigh about 92GB, while the App Store version is 159GB to download because it contains all the voiceover languages. Ray Tracing is not enabled in the "For this Mac"preset.
